My CCA's

Wow its been a long time since I blogged. So today I guess I got to talk about my CCA's, Scouts, Hurdle and Pole vault. But I still love hurdles the best, as for most of the people who are in other CCAs they surely are missing out on a whole lot. I've only been in track for one year as my previous year was spent scouting. It was fun...but some thing was missing...it was the sense of importance as in most uniformed groups, there are so many people that when one guy is missing you do not take notice. Plus the fact that most of the things they make you do are forced...and many people might not like it. (from left to right Symone the cheerful, cherly the gentle )
(,me the crazy guy, sean the champion, xingda the cool dude,)
(steven the handsome guy )
But in track and field its a whole new different story we have a lot more freedom as in you do not have to come all the time you know, their understanding and they know that you can't possibly come 5 times a week. Plus the additional factor of importance I mean look at this photo!!!!! There are almost all the RGS & VS hurdles (except xing da his a long jumper). But the cool thing about track and field is the people not the wining which I think most people fail to understand. Trackers (people who are in track and Field) are all naturally fun loving and quite brave(no I am not brave) like symone for example she fell down HARD after hiting a hurdle, she had several cuts here and there but yet she got up and even asked cherly if she could try it again. But the sad thing as that track and field creates a bond between each other thats very hard to break, so when your seniors leave for their JCs everyone is realy sad. So this is our final photo for this year as we say our final good byes to our beloved seniours. But of couce we could not just say goodbye without making sure that all our seniors will remember us permanently so...we had to dunk them in to the pond. Everyone in the photo above got dunked. Exept the coach of cource. No not all of us were sec 4s but as you know it is a tradition that we have to dunk the champion into the water so... sean was a casualty. But of cource it is the dunking season after all I guess we just had to dunk symone in too I mean come on a person standing and leaning towards the pond was just asking to be dunked so what the hack I guess one unexpected casualty can't hurt.

Chinese New Year

Hi all I hope all of you enjoyed your new year (How can you enjoy it, if you have to visit every relatives place and listen to adults talk about their life for about 1 hour at each house). So technically my four days of new year is wasted.

But every thing has its ups and downs. So i got to go bowling, although my bowling was horrible and i kept getting a low score of 85, we played to have fun (Who doesn't). And we also played "black jack", although i still prefer to play "tie ti" as it requires skill not just luck.

But this year is special i got invited to my track and field coach's house so we partied there for 2 hours, and the food was great in fact it is a lot better than all the other peoples cooking. But its the thought that counts and always remember cooking takes a lot of effort so always appreciate it no mater yucky it is. So if your sister cooks for you and it looks mutated just feed it to the dog and say that, that was one of the most tasty thing the dog I mean you ever tasted.

As every one knows what is a Chinese new year without ang paous so at the end of the day I will be going to count my ang paous. See you all next time

the last ride together

Today was the final day of competition, and also the day the “elite” group of Japanese riders would come. The competition was about to get really tough, and that every ones ranking was going to be pushed down. Although I knew that the competition was for us to have fun it was still hard to get rid of the competitive spirit.

I saw my name on the board and beside it Tyson. I was got really nervous as he threw of a rider yesterday, and the Japanese girl just before me. So far “none had survived” and after barely controlling him on Friday, i never thought I was going to make it. As I got on I started shivering in both, excitement and fear, but after a while I thing both of use shivered in “harmony” hence I could no longer feel the shivering.

While warming up, the instructor gave me more useful tips on how to ride Tyson, and it really helped me gain better control over Tyson, she probably saved my life. As Tyson’s care taker took me towards the “grand arena” he told me about Tyson’s past, and how to handle him even better. He too made a great contribution to my survival.

But on the other hand I was too quick to judge and say that it’s the horse fault, and not the rider’s, after all you are suppose to treat the horse with lots of respect before it can respect you. In the end, Tyson and I did alright, and although we did not win any of the two events we took part in, I had great time on him and helped him regain his good reputation.

After that, we had jumping 60-80cm power and speed, as usual we had Tanja, Stephanie, Joanna and Jolene. Unfortunately Jolene fell of the horse a few centimeters from the finish line, and I accidentally took pictures of her falling, i deleted that horrible image and rush over to see the situation. It was really bad, it turned out that, she fell in front of the horse and it kicked her head by accident. She suffered a slight concussion and was barely consciouses at first. But with great encouragement from all of us, and most importantly her sister, she was up and walking within 30-45 minutes. And just in time to receive all her medals too.

Her sister did really well and won almost every thing she took part in. From what I heard from Joline they normally ride very seldom barely 2 times a month. And yet they are able to trash other contestants who ride 2 times a week, and even left the “elite” Japanese group in her dust. Those girls were truly amazing and hard working.

Well I sure wish I could have told them this blog. O well, that’s what happens when your too shy to grab opportunity when it passes by. 3 hours had past and it was getting late, we had to return to Singapore soon. As I walked out or the room I saw all the tired horses and instructors teaching beginners again and it was as if there was no competition at all.It came and went just like the wind. Even all the contestants were gone and i was the last one left.

As I got into the car I waved goodby to an instructor that was leaving riderslodge to go around Asia, apparently she worked here for only 4 months and just as everyone was bonding with each other, we had to let one of our “brothers go” it really was not easy. I sat in the car looking back at Lilla the instructor that was leaving today and wished her the best of luck. Hoping that she would come back to riderslodge someday (we are all going to miss her).

competition cough

Today's competition was very exciting. Since I was the first rider, and the competition started at 7.45 am, I had to wake up at 6.00 a.m. Man I was so not a morning person! But since it was a competition I guess it was an exception, so I cooperated.

After checking the schedule I got on Arctic Mirage, and proceed with the test. I was quite nervous but after few words of encouragement from instructor Katrine, I proceeded on with the test and did the best I could. Wow! I did unexpectedly well and I got 3rd out of 23 other competitors. But I guess, it was also the fact that all the good riders were only coming on the next day.

Well after the test I still had 1 more event to go through, before the day was over. That was a show jumping event, and to my surprise i was still going to ride the owners favorite horse. I was also very shocked that he did not kill me yesterday night.

So I hopped on Pricilla and started warming up for jumping. I some how managed to control her better than I did yesterday, but it was still very sad that I forgot about the 9th jump so there goes clear round. AWWW!. Well after me it was time for the two most experienced riders. God they were all so good Joanne, Stephanie and Tanja so well (I did not spell Tanja’s name wrongly, her name is not an English). They all performed a clear round.

But it really is hard to talk to any one as I was always the only boy there, and there was always so much age difference. The competitors were always above 16years old, or under 11years old, the only people who are about my age is, Michale, who was 12 and liked to ask me stuff, Jolene who was 14 and loves to play with the younger girls, and Joanne 15 who liked to pat horses, disturb her sister Jolene, and be playful.

But the best jumpers were not amongst us, it was infact two of the stable boys which won the event this came a shock for most people. But I was not one of them, as I have worked as a stable boy before and knew that who else could ride better than a person who understands, showers, feed, exercise and plays with the horse. So never judge a book by its cover.

So after all of the exiting jumping and some falling off 2 meter horses we settled down to watch the very people who taught us how to ride, rode. Well all three instructors did really well at first but then one or the horses kicked, then followed by a chain reaction.

After a while a horse tried to bite another horse, then followed up by every horse in the arena going wild, and galloping every where. Not being evil or anything like that. But it was kind of funny, seeing our own instructors galloping around in pure havoc. In the end, it was the thought of riding for us that counted, and we all knew that horses are unpredictable creatures, so we still gave them an a rousing round of applause.

At night we watched the videos of all of us riding and for some strange reason we got stuck at the tape of our instructors demonstration. And just kept rewinding it again and again laughing non- stop(i almost died of laughter i could not breath).

riding fever

Well today was a very hard day for me, as I would be having a competition tomorrow. What competition you might ask well its an equestrian competition. I have been preparing for it for a month now and trust me when I say, I am still very unprepared it as I could only train during the weekends as I had school and other stuff to tend to.

So back to the main topic, to day well today was Friday so I had to attend school, As usual we have the periods that we hate like Chinese, math and science. And sadly we do not have English or literature to make today more exciting. Because I just love Mr. Hamilton, he is so funny and the way he teaches us is really unique. Making his lessons very interesting and fun.

Anyway after school I had the “honour” of having my parents picking me up saving me from Ivan’s “I am so smart and your so dumb speech”, which Ivan normally dose on our way home.

So after my mum picked me up we set of on our voyage to rider’s lodge, (its in kulai. And for more info on RL visit www.riderslodge.com.my) on my way there I did my chemistry homework and it was then that I forgot the formula for potassium and nitride.Hence I asked my parents, and to my surprise! They did not learn anything in my chemistry. So I behaved like any other good asshole would, and kept asking my parents about chemistry. Jamming their brains with chemistry formulas (mua ha ha ha)(cough*choke*cough).

So by the time we arrived in riderslodge I was just in time for my 3.00 o'clock lesson and boy was that lesson scary. The instructer rode the horse so hard the day before, and made it have phobia of monkeys, I mean humans, and the moment the victim, me got on, it kept trying to gallop of. O god I was so scared, as falling of a 2 meter horse would be very traumatizing but not painful though.

After lesson, my mum organized another lesson, giving me only 1 hour to recover from that first lesson. To make matters worse I was going to ride on the owner of riderslodge's, favorite horse, Pricilla! He warned me not to pull on her mouth but did I listen nooooo! I had to be a “hero” and pull her mouth, just because she was too fast for me.

So whats he going to do, well……………its horrible! First he invites you for cake, then locks you up a small room, ties you up then……then…………. Well I do not know because I locked my self up in my room to escape his wrath! I mean work on this blog yea that’s what I mean. So after this last sentence I will go down stairs into the lair of the beast and get eaten alive!!!!!!!!!!!!(ha ha ha ha..... no seriously). Nahh!!!1 his not that bad he’ll probably dissect me. That’s all for today well see ya tomorrow.(I hope.......*gulp*)
